Department

We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Associate with experience of quantitative research and cohort studies to join the Mental Health and Addiction Research Group (https://www.york.ac.uk/healthsciences/research/mental-health/) led by Professor Simon Gilbody at the Department of Health Sciences, University of York.

The successful applicant will contribute to the evaluation and reporting of the Humber, Coast and Vale green social prescribing programme. This programme, is being led by the HEY Smile Foundation and the Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership and aims to develop a ‘test and learn’ site for Green Social Prescribing across the six places of East Yorkshire, Hull, North Yorkshire, Vale of York, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

The post is hosted by the by the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber (YHARC) (https://www.arc-yh.nihr.ac.uk/). Specifically it will link to projects with a focus on the evaluation of asset-based greenspace interventions for groups at heightened risk of mental and physical health problems.

Role

The post holder will primarily contribute to:

  • Study set-up and on-going project management in partnership with HEY Smile
  • Data retrieval and collation, and management of the dataset
  • Analysis and reporting of data as per agreed reporting schedule
  • Broader dissemination of project findings

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • PhD in social science or health-related area or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies
  • Competency to make presentations at conferences or exhibit work in other appropriate events
  • Ability to write up research work for publication in high profile journals and engage in public dissemination
  • Experience of carrying out both independent and collaborative research
  • Willingness to work proactively with colleagues in other work areas/institutions
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for the subject matter of the project
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high quality
