Role Description


The Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of York has an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching. In line with the Department's success in its Engineering Management programmes and long-term plans for expansion we seek to appoint two outstanding Teaching and Scholarship Lecturers to enhance its teaching in the areas of engineering management and to contribute to the teaching and administration in support of our Engineering degree programmes.

You will contribute to the Department's programmes by designing, developing and delivering undergraduate teaching across a range of related subjects. The role requires you to:

  • Have the ability to innovate in teaching and learning
  • Teach at any level within the area of expertise, present specialist material in a logical, coherent and interesting manner
  • To contribute to the development of new teaching approaches and module proposals and to the design of curricula which are academically excellent, coherent and intellectually challenging
  • Use different delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students
  • Undertake, effectively, a range of administrative responsibilities

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • Appropriate academic professional and teaching qualification or a willingness to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice;
  • A good general knowledge in engineering management sufficient to design & develop teaching programmes and the provision of learning support across different levels of academic activity with a detailed knowledge of one [or more] of the following: Ideation, Strategic Management, Management of Technology, Marketing, Enterprise, Accounting and Finance, Law, International Business, Research Methods.
  • Knowledge of a range of teaching techniques and methodologies;
  • Ability to manage and deliver own teaching;
  • Candidates with relevant industrial experience are welcomed;
  • Highly developed communication skills.
