Role Description

Would you like to join our team of temporary staff working at the University of York?

The University Temp Pool is now actively recruiting.

The Temp Pool supplies administrative staff to departments on short-term engagements across the University. Our assignments can be to cover staff absence, vacancies or unusually high volumes of work. We offer a variety of roles in a range of departments. There's seldom a dull day!

Temporary assignment can range from a single day to a maximum of 12 weeks and are available on a full-time or part-time basis. We're seeking temps have experience of busy office environments and are flexible, reliable and inquisitive about what we do at the University.

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • A general education to include 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above, or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience
  • Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office and Google suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of colleagues and customers
  • Good attention to detail
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment

We can offer interesting and varied assignments in a pleasant working environment, a highly competitive hourly rate of £9.77, plus holiday pay and flexible working patterns.

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants are called to registration as and when there is an operational need for additional members of the Temp Pool. There may be an extended period between your being invited to attend a registration session and being offered work within the University.
