Role Description

As Head of Legal Services, you will provide overall leadership and guidance for legal, information governance and insurance matters for the University. Reporting into the Director of Planning & Risk, you will play a significant role in leading and executing the University’s legal strategy. Core to your role will be identifying legal risk and providing pragmatic advice to key stakeholders including the Vice-Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer and members of the University Executive Board. 

Key Requirements

  • Degree and professional qualification in a legal practice
  • Ability to develop and lead an effective and motivated team
  • Experience of  successfully implementing a legal strategy
  • Experience of working in a large complex organisation at both a strategic and operational level
  • Ability to analyse complex issues and provide clear, concise, pragmatic legal advice
  • Significant experience of drafting, advising on and negotiating contracts
  • Experience of delivering legal advice and comment to a range of service users 

Salary will be commensurate with experience on the Senior Management pay scales £57,000 - £78,000. The role includes an attractive benefits package, including a generous pension scheme ( 21% Employer contribution) and 38 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays).
