The Student and Academic Services Directorate is committed to providing a high-quality student-centred service that will enhance student life, retention, success and progression, and will be recognised as exemplary both within and outside the University.

Student and Academic Services comprises the following departments:

  • Student Administration and Academic Affairs
  • Student Careers and Systems
  • Library, Archives and Learning Services
  • Student Life and Wellbeing
  • Online Partnerships
  • Directorate Administration team     


We are looking for 2 experienced full-time administrators to join our busy Student and Academic Services Administrative Team.  You will be a member of a professional administrative service which provides support to all areas of the Student and Academic Services Directorate; carrying out a range of duties in order to facilitate the smooth running of the Directorate. All Administrators share responsibility for actioning requests in the general admin mailbox, and in addition each member of the team coordinates specific functional services; ensuring that processes are streamlined and that the customer is at the heart of what we do.  In addition to the generic responsibilities across the team, all our administrators also have responsibility for supporting the core work of a specific function or service area.  We require one administrator to support the HR/Finance service areas and one administrator to support the Department of Student Administration and Academic Affairs.

The team works collaboratively to provide high quality support, ensure resilience and cover for our key operations and to embed continuous improvement practices into our service delivery to ensure that we are providing support that is flexible and adaptable to meet the Directorate’s needs. 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed

  • A general education to include 5 GCSE passes at level 4 /Grade C or above (including Maths and English), or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience;
  • A thorough understanding of the principles of service provision and office management within a large, complex organisation;
  • Excellent IT skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite, and the ability to transfer your digital skills across a range of products;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including face to face, telephone and written communication skills;
  • Experience of, and commitment to providing an excellent standard of customer service to a range of stakeholders;
  • A proactive approach, with a ‘can do’ attitude,  and the ability to use your initiative to approach challenges with a positive outlook and suggest solutions.
