The Student Data and Management Information team (SDMI) are at the centre of student data use at the University and are responsible not only for a number of core statutory data returns, but also supporting MI and business intelligence teams around the organisation in their use of the core student record. The team are working with key partners on an ambitious programme of change to ensure we’re using the right technology, reviewing how data processes are managed and what platforms are used to expose information to our customers to help them mine our rich information sources and, above all, support our students. We want to make sure the student journey is supported by great quality data processes that operate seamlessly in the background, helping everyone at the University support students to achieve their best outcomes.
The team has three core elements to its service, all centred around data management and delivery – 1. statutory returns to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA); 2. data management for Student Loans Company (SLC); 3. Curriculum data management in the student record system (SITS).
The Senior Student Management Information Analyst will have an opportunity to learn and work on developing solutions in technologies new to the team (such as Amazon Redshift, Alteryx and Tableau) in support of delivering a fourth element that underpins all our services – management information analysis. Your work will support the student journey and ensure that our data meets changing business needs and priorities. You will provide day-to-day support across a number of areas as part of a dedicated team keen to explore ideas for future improvement and development.
If you are a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with great technical problem solving skills and a strong background in delivering MI solutions we would be really keen to hear from you. We’re working in a blended home and office based environment meaning there will be an element of both working locations, but given the nature of our work we can offer a flexible approach to how you split your time, based on your individual preferences. To support this way of working you need to be a self starter and willing and able to learn new systems and processes quickly, while embracing our range of digital remote working tools to get to know the team and the work.
Please contact Chris Hewitt (email@example.com), Head of Student Data and Management Information, for an informal discussion about the role.
