Role Description

Department

The National Centre for Excellence for Language Pedagogy (ncelp.org) aims to strengthen curriculum design and pedagogy, with a view to increasing uptake of and performance in foreign language GCSEs. Since December 2018, the Centre for Excellence has been training, supporting, and monitoring the work of 18 Specialist Teachers in nine Lead Schools, working with their local Hub schools (45 schools in total) as well as with a wider network of 90 schools linked to the Hubs. The Centre is housed within the University's Department of Education.

Role

The Centre Administrator supports the implementation of the Centre's work, undertaking a range of administrative activities that contribute to its effective and efficient operation, including:

  • Serve as main point of contact between the Centre and the network of schools
  • Provide information, advice, guidance and support to project stakeholders
  • Create, manage and maintain information systems and project documentation
  • Provide day-to-day financial accounting services
  • Prepare financial reports and management information, and maintain an auditable financial system
  • Manage events for the Centre and network
  • Support delivery of key milestones

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • General education to include three passes at A level, or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience
  • Understanding of administration within teams with complex, multi-layered tasks and geographical spread
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage own time and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Substantial experience working with data and financial information
  • An interest in language and a belief in the importance of language education

The role is a part-time (0.9FTE) maternity cover, available immediately until February 2022. We welcome applications from both external candidates and internal candidates who wish to apply for this position as a secondment.
