Role Description

Hull York Medical School is the joint Medical School of the Universities of Hull and York.  Due to its success the School was awarded a 70% increase in medical student numbers in 2017, with the expanded cohort of 220 starting in 2019.  In addition to the 5 year MB BS programme the School has also launched a 6 year Medicine with Gateway year programme, to support its widening participation strategy, a longitudinal integrated clerkship in year 4 and an MSc in Physician Associate Studies.    

As part of its expansion plan, the Medical School has expanded the geographical footprint of its clinical placements including Northallerton and Middlesbrough, in partnership with South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and local general practices.  

We are looking to appoint an Associate Director of Primary Care Education for Northallerton and Middlesbrough who will be the School’s representative for general practice in this area, supporting the delivery of the MB BS curriculum in the primary care setting. 

Applicants are required to have full registration with the GMC with a license to practice.  

They should be working as a general practitioner, preferably in the areas around Middlesbrough or Northallerton.   

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of Quality Assurance whilst also being able to proactively engage with tutors and prospective tutors in the relevant area.
