Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to work on a collaborative project between Physics and Electronic Engineering that is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the UK. The aim of the project is to develop a novel sensing technology using resonant nanophotonic structures to monitor the presence of biomarkers in blood. Specifically, the role holder will progress the sensor chip and associated assay and develop the instrumentation aspects of the project towards a device that can be used to analyse patient samples. The post is expected to start on July 1st, 2021, or shortly thereafter, for a duration of up to 36 months.
The role holder is expected to have significant experience in the fabrication and operation of biosensors, their biochemical functionalisation and their structural and functional characterisation. An engineering mindset and knowledge of analogue and digital electronics would be a significant advantage. The role holder will play an important role within a multidisciplinary research team brought together by the project, so experience of working collaboratively, on highly interdisciplinary research projects, is essential.
