Role Description

Department

The Planning and Risk Office supports the University’s strategic planning, develops management information to support departmental and institutional decision-making, and undertakes reviews of processes across the University with a view to improving the quality and effectiveness of activities that support academic and professional support services delivery.

The Evaluation and Evidence Team, within the Planning and Risk Office, are responsible for robust and research-informed analysis of all of the University’s widening access and participation activity, across the student lifecycle, from pre-entry and access, through to student success and progression. The team is committed to a whole institution approach, involving colleagues from all areas, as well as working with students as co-creators of knowledge, ensuring that learner voice is central to our evaluation strategy.

Role

This new role in the Evaluation and Evidence Team will support the University’s developing approach to evaluation, evidencing the impact of our widening participation in its entirety and ensuring that we continuously improve our practice.

The post holder will work closely to advise and support colleagues involved in access and participation work across the University, working collaboratively with teams to ensure that their work is properly evaluated and informed by the findings of the evaluation of relevant projects and activities.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of effective practices and methods relating to qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Evaluation or research experience in education programmes, preferably relating to widening participation.
  • Proactive communicator, with the ability to work in a team and form positive working relationships with colleagues and external contacts.

The contract is on an open basis with fixed term funding until 2024-25
