Role Description

Department

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Unit is based within the Research and Enterprise team, who support and develop research, knowledge transfer and impact activities. The CPD Unit aims to:

  1. Be the centre of excellence for the development, management and delivery of high quality CPD and Executive Education programmes
  2. Be the preferred supplier for local and regional external organisations looking for high quality, innovative education and training solutions with great customer service
  3. Provide support via both professional and financial resources for all departments to help them become the number one provider of for their courses and executive education programmes

These aims are underpinned by the values of Excellence, Innovation and Customer Service.

The CPD Unit has both internal customers (those developing, managing and delivering CPD in academic departments) and external customers (external organisations/businesses or professional individuals wishing to undertake training) and is focused on providing a high standard of service to both customer groups.

Role

Working as part of a team, you will provide administrative support to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Unit. Providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

You will undertake a varied range of administrative duties  including registration of and communication with delegates, using specific course management software, creating and updating webpages, inbox management, organisation of meetings and training courses, liaising with key external customers, administering customer and trainer contracts, monitoring budgets, general financial administration and administration of external funding and accreditation. This role is partially matched to a European Social Fund (ESF) funded project (Specialist Skills Support Programme), duties related to this project will include monitoring and general administration in line with funder rules.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • Substantial experience in a busy administrative environment working with competing priorities and dealing with customers.
  • Strong IT skills will enable you to support the department efficiently.
  • Ability to create and maintain webpages and social media
  • Ability to use your initiative to resolve queries and improve processes, contributing positively to a busy, efficient workplace.
  • Competent in event organisation, with the ability to plan and organise training and consultancy events.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work in a team, cooperative environment is essential.
  • Experience of providing an excellent level of customer service customer.
