Powerful and engaging communications are essential to convey the many benefits of studying at the University of York and we are currently looking to recruit a Marketing Team Leader to work on a wide range of projects and campaigns around international student recruitment marketing. This role is based within Marketing, Recruitment, Admissions and Outreach (MRAO) and will work closely with a team of marketing and content professionals, reporting to the Marketing Campaigns Manager. This role will lead on the development and delivery of marketing campaigns and communications strategies to attract and convert international students.
Working in a fast-paced team environment, you’ll lead on the development of a wide range of materials for prospective international students, guiding and supporting Content Developers working on international campaigns. You’ll develop an in-depth understanding of the many different international student journeys, key international stakeholders and associated decision-making processes, developing appropriate strategies and outputs to attract talented international students from all backgrounds.
Working closely with both the Marketing Campaign Manager and other Content Team Leaders you’ll use specific market or customer insights and will be able to take a data-informed approach when planning. You will support and guide others to produce marketing assets and campaigns across a huge range of media, making sure York’s media choices and narrative are appropriate, effective and culturally sensitive for different international markets.
You’ll work collaboratively to develop marketing plans to support international student recruitment objectives, so you’ll be working extremely closely with colleagues in International Recruitment to better understand market characteristics and the needs of different international audiences.
In this role you will line manage at least one Content Developer, overseeing their work and providing expertise and support. You will also keep the wider marketing team informed of international priorities during team meetings, feeding into team discussions around undergraduate or postgraduate campaigns and content development activities for maximum economies of scale. You will work with the Campaigns Manager and other senior figures to evaluate the impact of marketing projects and campaigns.
This will be a busy and dynamic role, so you must have extensive experience of marketing content production in a high pace environment and have experience of international audiences. You should also have excellent communications skills and proven experience of managing staff and enjoy working in a team, being able to work consultatively with a wide range of internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
