An opportunity has arisen to join our Volunteering team. They are recruiting an assistant to support with the coordination of their programmes. The team supports students to develop their skills and experience whilst also delivering tangible social benefits. Our offer consists of 3 main programmes; York Students in Schools, Volunteer brokerage and Community Projects.
Each year over 1000 students volunteer through our programmes, meeting local school and community needs and contributing to their own personal development. This role will also support the newly launched Community Projects initiative, as part of the University of York's recent successful bid as part of the OfS Engaging students in knowledge exchange: £10 million ‘what works’ competition.’
Volunteering is part of the Careers and Placements team at the University of York. We work collaboratively to provide students with work experience and learning opportunities which make an impact locally and build students' employability. Careers and Placements are working towards an ambitious Employability Strategy, with a team who are willing to innovate and adapt to the needs of our stakeholders, be those students, the graduate market or community partners.
Role
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining excellent customer service for students, school and community partners. They will have oversight of programme processes including; regular communications with schools and community partners; managing our social media and support for marketing, supporting student volunteers including coordination of student management group for schools; ensuring safeguarding requirements are met, including DBS checking of volunteers; first point of contact for queries; and supporting events and training for all programmes.
The salary for this post is £21,814 - £25,217 a year (Grade 4). This is a full time position with a requirement for occasional flexible working.
Condition of Employment
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Consequently, all applicants will be asked to declare both unspent and spent convictions on their application form.
Appointment of the successful candidate will be conditional on a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
