Role Description


The University of York Management School has three new Professional and Support Service opportunities. One within its Assessment office and two in the Student office. Working closely with colleagues, to provide comprehensive support for all Management School students. You will have knowledge and understanding of processes and procedures supporting the student lifecycle, ideally gained in a student-facing environment.


The roles are designed to provide comprehensive administrative support for within the School:

  • To be the first point of contact for all students and academic staff, providing a high-quality service at all times
  • To be a key member of the Student Services team, taking responsibility for the day-to-day administrative processes associated with programmes of study
  • To acquire a comprehensive understanding of the School’s curriculum and University policies in order to advise students in various aspects of the student lifecycle.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed

  • A general education to include 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (including Maths and English), or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of all MS office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint in additional to the full Google Suite
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative procedures and processes in a busy office within a large complex organisation
  • Ability to produce statistical analysis of data, including the use of formulas in Excel, highlighting any problematic issues
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service, support and advice to students, staff and external contacts
  • Experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive information
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating a professional and flexible approach.
