Role Description

Due to continued expansion the York Management School (TYMS) is seeking to appoint outstanding academics at Lecturer and Senior Lecturer level in the accounting discipline. 

What is important is that you are capable of delivering excellent interdisciplinary and impactful research that advances your subject area nationally and internationally and contributes to the School mission which is to become a leading business school for interdisciplinary research. You will be able to deliver accounting modules. Additionally, you will be collegiate and committed to enhancing the student experience through the delivery of an excellent teaching and learning experience for all our undergraduates and postgraduates.

Role

  • To develop research objectives, projects and proposals and carry out individual or collaborative research projects
  • To lead on and/or contribute to the production of research outputs and research outcomes.
  • To design, develop and deliver teaching across a wide range of modules and/or within a particular programme or subject area
  • To undertake academic supervision of students (including research students) and act as a research supervisor within own specialist subject area.
  • To undertake effectively a range of administrative and managerial responsibilities   

Skills, abilities and competencies

You will have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in relevant subject area; an appropriate academic professional and teaching qualifications or a willingness to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice; and an outstanding qualities and achievements in scholarship and research at a national and international level. You will also have:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • A proven track record in research with high quality journal publications and conference presentations           
  • Specialist knowledge in subject area with a knowledge of a range of research and teaching techniques
  • Advanced and specialist IT knowledge
  • An extensive track record of teaching and learning in HE at undergraduate and postgraduate level or in a demonstrably similar context      
  • Ability to develop research objectives, projects, and proposals
  • Well-developed analytical skills
  • A commitment to personal development and updating of knowledge and skills      
  • A collaborative ethos
