Role Description

Department

The York-Maastricht Partnership (https://www.york.ac.uk/maastricht/) is a major strategic relationship between the universities of York and Maastricht, intended to develop a deep and lasting relationship, built around excellent research, teaching and knowledge exchange.  To date the two Universities have invested some €3m in the Partnership’s research and teaching programmes, supporting a wide board of collaborative research and the development of new and innovative joint-educational courses.

Role

We are looking for a great Project Manager to join the Partnership’s core team and play a key role in delivering large elements of our work.  Working closely with the Partnership’s Director, supported by and embedded in the University’s project management community, you will lead on the launch of the partnership’s first joint education programme (a new, innovative, Masters level course delivered collaboratively by both institutions) and play a key role in ensuring our growing portfolio of research projects are well managed.

You will take the lead on the delivery of all aspects of the programme working alongside other specialist colleagues in accreditation, recruitment and marketing, student experience and beyond. Design work on our first joint course has just begun, so the exact teams and departments you will be working with will shift, but you can expect to be working with and coordinating a wide range of input from both academics and professional services colleagues.

Both Universities have significant ambitions for the Partnership’s development, and we’ve already earned positive attention and plaudits for the approach we are taking to post-Brexit University cooperation so beyond our initial Masters programme, you can also expect to be working on other areas of project management on other educational programmes, our research portfolio and wider Partnership priorities.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed

  • Educated to Degree level or proven relevant experience in a relevant project management field
  • Good understanding of core university business processes, ideally with some experience of delivering new educational programmes in a university context
  • Proven project management skills including planning / organising resources, managing risks and issues, setting targets (on multi-year timescales)
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills; able to present complex ideas at the appropriate level to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Able to engage, liaise and negotiate effectively with other colleagues within the University, third-party suppliers, manufacturers, other academic institutions and stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills and able to work independently using considerable initiative and self-motivation

Interview date: 31 March 2020
