Role Description


Networks & Events Coordinator will be part of two projects housed at the University of York, both funded by UKRI to support the screen industries in Yorkshire and the Humber. XR Stories is a £15m investment by the AHRC, the University of York, BFI and Screen Yorkshire – along with a wide range of creative and cultural industries partners and Yorkshire Universities. XR Stories one of nine Creative Industry Cluster investments from AHRC and the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, and is set up to provide research and development funding to push forward the potential of immersive and interactive technologies for digital storytelling. The Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN) is a £6.4m project funded by Research England, and with supporting funds and resource from the University of York and regional HEIs. SIGN aims to enhance the competitiveness of the screen industries in the region, and to future-proof them by addressing challenges in skills and talent shortages, barriers to entry (equality and diversity), and by developing routes to market for new products, services and experiences.Jointly these two projects have the overarching ambition to make the Yorkshire and Humber region the UK’s centre of expertise in digital screen storytelling


Networks & Events Coordinator you will generate interest and engagement in the projects, by the organisation and delivery of high profile events, and by building networks. You will ensure the strategic marketing and communications objectives of the projects are met, social media is consistently updated with engaging content, and the variety of audiences of the projects are catered for across all marketing channels. You will be responsible for developing links with individual creative companies – SMEs and larger public and private organisations – to generate interest and engagement in the programme.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • You should have a degree or equivalent professional qualification, or equivalent experience
  • Good understanding of the regional screen based industries
  • Have an understanding of digital communications channels including websites and social media
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders; able to formally present to business audiences at network meetings and events
  • Have a broad understanding of the needs of Micro and SME businesses and freelancers in the creative/digital/screen industries
  • Have strong network development and management skills; able to form relationships with many different types of people both internally and externally; persuasive and influential
