Role Description

Department of TFTI (Theatre, Film, TV and Interactive Media)

A motivated and enthusiastic person is needed to help provide technical support and maintenance in our state-of-the-art facility.  You will be working closely with students, academic staff and external clients, and will be able to offer support in a number of different fields.

As an ideal candidate you will have experience with audio recording and editing systems, video recording and editing systems, PC and Mac based software, hardware and networks.  We are looking for a proactive team player with a proven track record for providing solutions in a sometimes hectic and intense environment.

The post is full time and available from 24 February 2020.

Role

The role holder will provide comprehensive technical support and advice for all IT hardware within the department:

  • Set up and install managed hardware and software
  • Provide first line support for managed hardware and software: trouble-shoot problems, carry out simple repairs/patches; escalate complex issues; highlight and report repeating incidents that may need root cause analysis by senior colleagues to rectify
  • Remove and securely dispose of life-expired devices
  • Provide first line support of unmanaged devices (e.g. tablets, laptops, etc.)
  • Carry out stock control on consumables, receiving goods and preparing for dispatch
  • Liaise with users and departmental representatives
  • A good standard of education to GCSE/NVQ1 level or an equivalent qualification, or relevant experience
  • Familiar with a range of IT operating systems
  • Knowledge of IT device hardware architecture, components and specifications
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good accuracy and attention to detail; able to complete tasks to a specified standard
  •  Experience with working in a busy service-led environment
  • Willing to keep updated and receive relevant training as required
  • Positive attitude
