Role Description

As part of the Department's long-term strategic vision, we are seeking to recruit a new Professor of Educational Evaluation to expand capacity and to provide leadership and focus in this area, with the associated development of new master’s-level provision. The Department’s ambition is to remain a leader in the field of educational evaluation. This is reflected in our strategy and further investment in educational evaluation is planned with the recruitment of a Lecturer in Educational Evaluation to start in September 2020.

The role is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to provide strong leadership in research in educational evaluation, drawing together existing research strengths across the department. Evaluation research is strong at York, and the appointee will work to optimise connections with other departments and units in research and teaching across the University

Key requirements

  • PhD in education, educational psychology, psychology or other relevant discipline
  • Expertise in one or more specialist areas of research in educational evaluation
  • Experience of leading research teams and involvement in funded projects
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills 
  • Attraction and effective supervision of postgraduate students
