Role Description

Department

The Interdisciplinary Global Development Centre (IGDC) led by the Departments of Politics, Environment and Geography and History, is looking to appoint a dynamic administrator to support the Centre, working closely with the Director (Professor Jean Grugel) and

Co-Directors Professors Henrice Altink and Piran White.  The post is available immediately, full time and available on a fixed term contract for 3 years.

Role

You will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Directors and to IGDC; arranging and promoting events and conferences; maintaining the website, organising travel and meetings and other administrative tasks.  You will be required to liaise with a range of people, both internal and external to the University.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • Experience of working in an administrative role in a busy office within a large complex organisation.
  • Ability to effectively organise and prioritise own work and follow procedures in order to produce work to a high standard, to required deadlines.
  • Competent in diary management, with the ability to plan and organise meetings, small-scale events, workshops and conferences.
  • You should be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (to include Word, Excel and Access). 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
