Role Description

Department

The Directorate of Estates & Campus Services is the largest support department within the University of York.  Our role is 'to provide services and facilities to the core business of the University and the wider University community’. We monitor service levels, ensuring that we deliver these safely, to a high quality, and in a timely manner to meet the University’s operational needs.

Role

As a Security Maintenance Technician you will work within a small team and be responsible for CCTV, Access Control and Alarm Systems. You will provide preventative and reactive maintenance of security equipment.

Hours of work are full time at 37 per week. You will at times be required to provide out of hours cover in the event of an emergency.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

With good hands on skills, strong focus and good knowledge of modern technology, you will improve the reliability of our equipment and operations. You will be required to provide specialist assistance in multi-discipline security maintenance. 

You will be required to be fully conversant with the used technology and show a degree of independence in decision making. The keeping of accurate electronic records is core to the role. The role will require participation on an on-call rota and require a degree of flexibility to support a large and interesting set of infrastructure.

For this role you will need a BTech National Diploma in Design of alarm systems or equivalent qualification or have demonstrable equivalent experience. You should be comfortable working within a team and also able to act on your own initiative. A willingness to learn and develop new skills is essential as is a full UK driving licence.
