Role Description

The University’s Examinations and Graduation Teams organise and implement events which are central to the student journey at York.  Both events require very high levels of preparation and intense attention to detail, as well as an understanding of the importance of the event to the students who are participating in them.

We are looking for a professional administrator to join these two teams.  The work will be split evenly between the two teams over the course of the year, but will be intensely focussed on one or the other during the peak workloads of each team.

With a high degree of attention to detail, and experience working in an administrative role in a busy office within a large complex organisation, you will support the production of appropriate documentation and reports, and participate in the detailed planning of very large-scale events that nonetheless take into account the individual needs of the participants.  You will give detailed advice to students, guests, invigilators and academic departments based on current policy and practice.  You will recognise, and act with respect for, the importance of student confidentiality and the security of examination scripts and transcripts and parchments.

You will be able to work flexibly, under pressure and to tight deadlines, and will balance a commitment to planning with the ability to react appropriately when faced with an unexpected situation. You will have good IT skills, experience of working with complex databases and providing excellent customer services.

Your ability to communicate effectively and to maintain accuracy will help us to build upon our success in delivering the services that we provide.

Interviews will be held on 18 October 2019.

For informal enquiries please contract Christine.Bond@york.ac.uk tel: 01904 324042
