Department

The York Trials Unit (YTU) is one of the UK’s leading centres for the design, conduct and analysis of randomised controlled trials. Due to the continued success of the Unit, we are now seeking to appoint a new Grade 7 Research Fellow (Trial Manager).  The post offers the opportunity to be part of a large and successful multi-disciplinary Department, renowned for its methodological expertise and commitment to policy relevant research.

Role

You will lead on the production of research outputs and research outcomes, plan and manage the delivery of randomised controlled trials and other research projects, including supervising the work of others; collaborate on grant applications; disseminate your research through publications, seminars and conference presentations; contribute to the identification of possible new areas of research and undertake primary research.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • First or higher degree in a relevant discipline
  • PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of trial design and conduct and other relevant methods
  • Previous experience of delivering RCTs
  • Knowledge of the agenda around funding and undertaking research in the NHS
  • Ability to lead and/or take responsibility for large scale research projects
  • Proven ability to attract and obtain external research funding
  • Experience of writing up research work for peer-reviewed publications and other forms of dissemination
  • Strong collaborative ethos
