The Professional Services Finance Team is seeking a high calibre Finance Business Partner to focus on support for the University’s Capital Programme. Role

The Finance Business Partner – Capital plays a pivotal role in helping to manage the University’s Capital Programme whilst ensuring adherence to financial reporting standards and the University’s capital procedures, as well as providing high quality financial information and support for decision making. Some of the key duties are listed below:

  • Coordinate the forecasting, budgeting and medium term planning activities of the Capital Programme, including depreciation
  • Monitor capital expenditure and capital grant budgets, liaising on a monthly basis with the Development Team and other key stakeholders to review project progress and anticipated outturn, challenging assumptions where appropriate.
  • Prepare financial reports on capital expenditure and associated capital grants, with commentary for senior management and University Committees
  • Provide help and guidance in the development of capital business cases, including financial modelling and project appraisal
  • Provide support & training for both the financial modules of the University’s project management software, and the University’s capital procedures to colleagues across the University, ensuring capital spend is compliant with procedure
  • Maintain the University’s fixed asset register

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • Accountancy qualification (for example ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound understanding of financial processes, procedures and regulations
  • Ability to establish and nurture productive working relationships
