Role Description

Applications are invited for Research Fellow (Social Sciences) positions to work on the Wellcome Trust funded Transformative Research on the Alcohol industry, Policy and Science (TRAPS) research programme, led by Professor Jim McCambridge.  The programme aims to develop our understanding of how alcohol industry actors influence science, the science/policy interface, and policy making, and to examine the implications for public policies.  The purpose of these posts are to contribute to the conduct and management of studies within the programme, and to identify and develop opportunities for further research.  

Working with colleagues, the main duties of the roles are to undertake scoping work, literature review, research design, collection, analysis and interpretation of research data; and all tasks associated with the management of studies.  You will contribute to publications, including as lead author, and otherwise disseminate research findings.  The posts provide good opportunities to develop understanding of a series of inter-related issues that do not have well established disciplinary or inter-disciplinary traditions of study.

Key requirements

You will hold a PhD in a relevant social sciences subject. You should have well developed research skills in designing and undertaking qualitative studies that address research questions and grounding studies in the existing research literature. You should have experience of successful publication of research papers in academic journals or other peer reviewed outlets and good IT skills.  Additional post-doctoral experience is required for the more senior post.
