Role Description

Department of English and Related Literature

We are currently seeking a professional and enthusiastic manager to coordinate a small team providing an administrative service which contributes to the smooth running of the department for the benefit of both students and academic staff.

Role

You will bring your exceptional organisational, interpersonal and IT skills to provide comprehensive, high level support, carrying out a range of duties to manage both the student facing services and the academic administration of our degree programmes. An enthusiastic team player with a "can-do" approach, you will have a portfolio of responsibilities relating to our undergraduate provision and will manage the Postgraduate, Assessment and Undergraduate Administrators and our Receptionist, and report to the Departmental Manager. You will use your initiative, attention to detail and experience of University procedures to review our processes in order to maximise efficiency in a small team which supports a large number of students and academic staff.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • Educated to A-level or equivalent or possessing an equivalent level of experience, you will bring your customer service and office management skills gained in a large, complex organisation to the role.
  • You will be able to review procedures and processes, ensuring that they are fit for purpose and maximise efficiency.
  • With excellent oral and written communication skills, you will be able to write clearly and succinctly, and provide detailed advice and guidance on by email, telephone or in person
  • You will bring your experience and understanding of the student journey from acceptance to graduation, preferably gained in a similar role in Higher Education
