Role Description

York Neuroimaging Centre (YNiC) provides a MRI diagnostic imaging service for members of the public alongside its research into the human brain.  The diagnostic imaging largely focuses on musculoskeletal MRI and is delivered by a team of staff that strive to deliver a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led service.  As a result the service has been rated as good by the Care Quality Commission.  As the Specialist Radiographer at YNiC you will be an HCPC registered radiographer.  You will be expected to have experience in MRI scanning in a clinical setting and will have experience in protocoling clinical scans. There will also be an expectation that you will be involved in meeting the requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to ensure the clinical service is Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.  As a result we expect you to contribute to policies and procedures that form submissions to the CQC and be activity involved in inspections of the clinical service by the CQC.

The clinical service is provided on one day a week, currently Monday from midday to 7pm.  It is essential that if the successful applicant wants to take up a part-time role (minimum of 18.5 hours per week) they will be available for the clinic.

In addition to the diagnostic imaging service, the YNiC undertakes research scanning to investigate the structure, function and chemistry of the human brain.  You will therefore contribute to the research scanning at the centre particularly if the role is taken up full-time.

Your will be supervised by the Manager of Imaging Services, while your line management will be formally provided by the Director.

This post is available on a fixed term contract from the date of appointment up until July 31st 2021. Any queries regarding your application should be sent to HR Recruitment via email at
