Role Description

Due to the changing external environment and the increasing need for more robust governance and assurance processes, the University is strengthening its Governance and Assurance team. This senior  post will be based in the Governance and Assurance team which is part of  the Directorate of Corporate and Information Services. The role-holder will work closely with other members of the Governance and Assurance team and with colleagues based across the University who service the University’s committee structure.

You will support the Head of Governance and Assurance in providing high quality services to the University’s corporate and academic governing bodies (Council and Senate) and some of their main sub-committees.

Key Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Good understanding of the current English HE regulatory environment under the Office for Students
  • Good understanding of the principles of corporate governance and their application in an HE context
  • Excellent written English skills with the ability to draft accurate and succinct minutes of  highly complex top-level meetings
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to persuade and influence senior staff
  • Experience of providing governance and assurance services at the most senior level in a large and complex organisation
