Role Description

DECS is the largest of any of the University Departments Our role is 'to provide services and facilities to the core business of the University and the wider University community’. We monitor service levels, ensuring that we deliver these safely, to a high quality, and in a timely manner to meet the University’s operational needs.

Working within DECS and to the Head of Estates & Operations, you will ensure that your zone is maintained in line with the asset management plan, meets all compliance requirements and works are well planned and communicated to those affected, with disruption minimised.  You will ensure your teams are efficiently and effectively organised to deliver a highly valued service and are capable of competing with contractors, with work done in house where value for money can be evidenced.

In addition, you will be a proactive member of your management team, jointly owning key decisions that best support delivery of agreed strategies, plans and programmes.  You will have responsibility for the management of your Zone’s budget, up to £1.3m.

You will have a degree or equivalent relevant experience, along with appropriate engineering, building services or facilities management qualifications.  Excellent knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and practices is also essential.

In this role you will manage and coordinate a large team of multi-skilled Trades staff and it is essential that you are able to lead, motivate and develop your team.  You should have excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate our values and to lead by example.

Salary: £39,609 - £48,676 a year + Benefits which include: Pension, Health & Dental Insurance, childcare vouchers and interest free season ticket loans.
