Role Description

The Research & Enterprise Directorate supports academic staff and departments to undertake world-leading research and to disseminate the knowledge created to external stakeholders for the benefit of society.

The Role
This key appointment will manage the largest of eight teams within the Directorate, and will be responsible for the leadership and development of its 30 staff and over £70M of research income per year.  Your role will be responsible for application and post-award operations and processes across the University, to ensure compliance with both external and internal requirements and to support further growth in research income.

Key Requirements

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree
  • Strong leadership and people skills, with the ability to influence, gain trust and inspire
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education research funding environment
  • Excellent Project Management and forward planning expertise
  • Recent management experience including change management and a commitment to staff development
  • Ability to analyse data to identify patterns, trends and inconsistencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
