Role Description

An opening for a full-time Information Officer to manage and support the University of York’s alumni and fundraising database is now available in the Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni (OPPA), which is responsible for philanthropy and alumni relations at the University.

As Information Officer, you will be responsible for a CRM database of over 150,000 contacts on the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT platform.

You will take the lead in:

-  Getting data into and out of the database through mass imports/exports and transfers

-  Training users both in OPPA and across the University to use the database correctly, efficiently and in compliance with regulations

-  Liaising with Blackbaud and other system suppliers

-  Being OPPA’s in-house ‘superuser’ and first-line technical support, both for the database and other basic IT needs.

You will both carry out data- and systems-related processes and continually develop and improve them, collaborating with users and colleagues across OPPA and in other University support services.

In so doing, you will personally make a vital contribution to every part of the University’s work with alumni, donors and volunteers.

Key Requirements for the role include:

IT and Systems: You will have excellent IT skills, particularly in working with CRMs or other large databases, and the desire to continuously develop those skills. You will be adept at learning new systems with minimal training. You will have an excellent understanding of databases and how to manipulate, combine and present large data sets.

Personal Qualities: You will have outstanding attention to detail and be strongly motivated to avoid errors, both in your own work and through quality-checking others’ results. You will be an organised, communicative and proactive independent worker, committed to excellent customer service and motivated by a genuine desire to help others.

Prior experience of using Raiser’s Edge would be an advantage but is not essential.


The role is full-time and initially available for 12 months to cover an internal secondment.
