Role Description

Lecturer in Actuarial Science

Due to continued expansion the York Management School (TYMS) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Actuarial Science. We want to appoint an outstanding academic who can contribute to teaching on the BSc Actuarial Science degree. The position is available either as a Research & Teaching post or as a Teaching & Scholarship post. The degree is accredited by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and is run jointly with the Department of Mathematics.

You will be expected to carry out individual and collaborative research, actively participate in research supervision, management and administration contributing to successful research outputs.  You will also contribute to our teaching courses by designing, developing, and delivering teaching across our Actuarial Sciences modules.

For the Research & Teaching position it is important is that you are capable of delivering excellent research that advances your subject area nationally and internationally and contributes to the School mission which is to become a leading business school for interdisciplinary research. Additionally, you will be collegiate and committed to enhancing the student experience through the delivery of an excellent teaching and learning experience for all our undergraduates and postgraduates. For the Teaching & Scholarship position you will want to develop and apply innovative teaching techniques and materials which create understanding and enthusiasm amongst students, and to carry out on-going curriculum reviews of the BSc Actuarial Science degree. The Teaching & Scholarship position may appeal to an IFoA member who has professional experience as an actuary.
