Role Description

This is a newly created post to enable The University of York to respond to the new opportunities presented by the Apprenticeship Levy.

Therefore we are looking for an outstanding and experienced Head of Apprenticeships to lead the strategic development and manage the operation of the University’s Higher and Degree Apprenticeships programmes.  Working with staff in academic and professional services departments you will lead the University in developing and delivering a portfolio of high-quality apprenticeship programmes.

You will develop and deliver against challenging targets for the introduction of degree apprenticeship programmes across all faculties, responding to the needs of employer partners and guiding staff through the apprenticeships landscape. Professional and highly persuasive, you will be required to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, including with the most senior staff across the institution to ensure uptake of this new strategically important initiative; providing leadership, direction, planning and management during the development, implementation and delivery phases.

You will use your significant experience of degree level apprenticeships and your commercial skills, combined with extensive account management experience and highly developed employer engagement expertise to develop long-term, sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships with a range of key partners across the public and private sectors.

Located within the Research and Enterprise Directorate you will build a new, dedicated team, working collaboratively with a network of professional specialists across the University, in support of the Apprenticeship agenda.

The University is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community  – a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, staff engagement forums, campus facilities and services to support staff from different backgrounds.
