We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and well organised Admissions Officer to work within the busy Undergraduate Admissions Team in the Student Recruitment and Admissions Office at the University of York. A friendly and helpful manner is essential, combined with a flexible approach to work and an ability to work efficiently with large volumes to tight deadlines.
Responsible for the line management of a team of Admissions Administrators, you will oversee the undergraduate admissions processing activities, ensuring that admissions operational processes are carried out in accordance with the Admissions Policy and effectively support the University’s recruitment strategy.
You will work closely with the Undergraduate Admissions Manager to support centralised decision making for undergraduate programmes through liaison with academic departments, including defining and applying selection criteria and working towards agreed decision making timetables and offer targets.
You will be involved in the organisation and delivery of information events and publications for applicants, and the organisation and delivery of training for admissions staff. Alongside the other Admissions Officers in the team, you will play a key role in the centralised support for admissions, including informing strategic objectives through involvement in the Medium Term Planning process. You will assist with projects designed to improve the efficiency of the admissions service, enhancing the experience of both internal and external stakeholders.
With excellent communication skills, you will have a good honours degree or equivalent, experience of managing a team, excellent IT skills and experience of working in Higher Education admissions.
