The Department of Education wishes to appoint a Research Fellow or Research Associate to work with the University of York Science Education Group (UYSEG).
You will be working with Professor Judith Bennett, the leader of UYSEG, on a range of research-related activities. The role will involve working on funding applications, assisting with the design of research instruments, collecting data (most usually from teachers and students in schools) and preparing project reports.
You will have a PhD in science education or a related field. You will have experience of contributing to the preparation of research proposals and applications to potential funders, and assisting with research projects. Applicants should also have experience of writing research reports and papers for publication and presenting research findings to a range of audiences. Ideally, you will have experience of undertaking research in schools.
Candidates applying for the Research Fellow must meet the additional criteria outlined in the relevant personal specification which includes being able to demonstrate their experience in successful management of research projects and a proven ability to obtain external research funding.
The post is available part time (14.8 hours a week) on a fixed term contract for three years, to start on 1 January 2019, or earlier.
