As a leading research University, York relies on excellent communication systems, telephony being one of the core components. Having completed a transition to VOIP, the University is now looking to take its Communications to the next level by implementing a new Unified Communications platform.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to work within the Unified Communications team in IT Services. You will be a key member of the team by performing day-to-day operational tasks as well as fault finding and diagnosis of our mobile, VOIP and other communication systems and services. You will assist in ensuring that all our services which currently support approximately 5,500 telephone extensions and 800 mobile phones are well maintained and run smoothly.
You will be providing a service to all parts of the University and so this role requires a professional, customer-focused approach to working with others, ensuring that all customers receive an excellent service.
You will be a dedicated individual with a good attention to detail with a drive to work closely with our support partners and other professional services departments and facilities in ensuring the unified communication technologies we offer them are stable and fulfil their needs.
The overall aim is for the team is to transform how our customers are able to collaborate with solutions that are mobile, secure and deliver reliable, seamless integrated voice, video calling & messaging.
The post is available immediately and is a full-time, open post. Full training will be given to the right candidate if necessary.
As a result of the essential and critical nature of communication systems, the post holder must be prepared to work during the JANET at risk periods (Tuesdays and Thursdays 06:00 – 09:00) if required. Additionally, some ‘out of hours’ (including weekend) work may be required. Overall the working hours would be expected to be standard working hours in any one week (currently 37 hours). A flexi-time scheme operates which allows for flexible working within operational guidelines.
