Role Description

Building on the success and growth of the School, York Law School (YLS) is seeking to appoint a 12-month fixed term Associate Lecturer (and separately a permanent Lecturer). For one of the posts we are looking for a person able to lead the teaching of company law in the School.

The role requires you:

  • To lecture, lead seminars, tutorials and other forms of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
  • To develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students
  • To carry out on-going curriculum review, including module content and materials and contribute to the development of teaching and learning strategies
  • To undertake effectively a range of administrative responsibilities

Key Requirements

You will have:

  • A postgraduate degree in law or equivalent experience
  • An ability to develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students
  • An ability to carry out on-going curriculum review, including module content and materials and contribute to the development of teaching and learning strategies
    • Detailed knowledge in law sufficient to develop teaching and provide relevant learning support to students across different levels of academic ability
    • An ability to undertake effectively a range of administrative responsibilities
    • A collaborative ethos

This is a full time position (37 hours a week) and the salary will be within the range of £31,604 - £38,832 a year on Grade 6 of the University of York’s salary scales.  This post is available on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
