This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated research fellow with experience in quantitative data analyses and handling large data sets to contribute to the multi-disciplinary team in the Martin House Research Centre (www.york.ac.uk/mhrc ).
You will be a member of the Martin House Research Centre working under the direction of Dr Lorna Fraser and Professor Bryony Beresford at the University of York. This Centre is based in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of York and is a collaboration with the Social Policy Research Unit at the University of York (www.york.ac.uk/spru), the University of Leeds and Martin House Children’s Hospice (www.martinhouse.org.uk). The Centre’s aim is to undertake high quality research that will help to ensure that all children with life-limiting conditions and their families receive equitable, high quality care.
You will conduct research and contribute to the portfolio of secondary data analyses being undertaken by the Martin House Research Centre team and take responsibility for co-ordinating and undertaking activities including developing research question (s), handling large complex data sets including data analyses plans, data cleaning, analyses and report writing. Therefore attention to detail and a commitment to high quality work is essential, as is the ability to communicate and engage effectively with a wide ranging audience both orally and in writing.
You will have a First degree in either a scientific or health related discipline and a PhD in a relevant topic area with a strong working knowledge of research techniques and methodologies. You will also be required to demonstrate your knowledge of quantitative data analysis including survival analyses and the ability to use command driven statistical packages e.g Stata, R or SAS. and experience of undertaking secondary data analyses studies.
