Role Description

The Department of Education is seeking to appoint a Research Associate in Higher Education to work under the supervision of the Head of Department, Professor Paul Wakeling. This is a new role available within the Centre for Research into Education and Social Justice (CRESJ).

You will contribute to the production of high quality research, supporting the research programme of the Head of Department. You will be expected to conduct individual or collaborative research projects, to contribute to the preparation of research proposals and applications to external bodies and to undertake management and administrative support for research projects. You will also be given the opportunity to contribute to teaching on the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

You will have a PhD in Education, Sociology or other relevant social science subject (candidates who have submitted a PhD and are awaiting examination may be considered) along with experience of working with large scale secondary or administrative datasets. You will have experience of carrying out both independent and collaborative research, writing up research work for publication and expertise in higher education and/or sociology of education.
