Salary will be within the range: £31,604 - £38,832 a year

The post is available full time on a fixed term contract for 18 months

 

We seek to appoint an English Language Teaching professional to take a leading role in setting up and developing new Pre-Sessional Programmes at this exciting stage of the College’s development. You will act as a programme co-ordinator in Language and Study Skills for the Pre-Sessional programme. You will cooperate with the Programme Leader in planning programme content and organisation and will also work closely with programme tutors to ensure effective course delivery. Your responsibilities will include materials development, coordinating teams of tutors, and the setting and marking of assignments, in addition to teaching classes and conducting tutorials. You will also be expected to contribute to other courses within the IPC, such as the Pre-Masters or the Foundation Certificate.

You will have a relevant English language teaching diploma and an undergraduate degree or equivalent. A postgraduate degree in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages, Linguistics or comparable discipline area is desirable.

You will have detailed knowledge of English language teaching (ELT) within the context of English for Academic Purposes and Higher Education. You will have an understanding of approaches to assessment and evaluation as well as knowledge of the principles and practice of technology enhanced learning. You will have the ability to supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and assist with learning problems as well as a proven ability in syllabus and materials development in ELT and in assessment design. You will also have the ability to set and mark assessments and provide appropriate feedback to students and the ability to plan and deliver learning in a virtual or electronic environment.

You will have demonstrable experience in ELT including some experience of English for Academic Purposes. You will also have experience in teaching and learning in HE at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level or a similar context as well as evidence of successful planning and design of teaching material. You will have experience of using different delivery techniques, including technology enhanced learning, to enthuse and engage students. As well as attention to detail and commitment to high quality, you will have creativity, initiative and judgement in applying appropriate approaches to teaching, learning support and scholarly activities.
