Role Description

The Department of Politics is a prestigious, lively and international community at the forefront of research in the main political areas of conflict and development, international politics, political theory and public policy. Following a strategic investment on the part of the University in the growth of the Department, we are now seeking to appoint an exceptional academic as a Professor of Politics. There are no restrictions on the substantive areas of research, however we are particularly interested in academics in the following fields:

  • Comparative Politics and Public Policy
  • Political Economy
  • Conflict, Peace and Security
  • Political Theory

As a leading international scholar, you will publish research of the highest quality, provide academic leadership to colleagues who work in this area, and play an active role in developing collaborations in other areas of social science across the University. 

Key Requirements

  • PhD in Political Science/International Relations or cognate area
  • Ability to define, lead and attract funds for internationally excellent research, operating across disciplinary boundaries 
  • International reputation as a research leader
  • Substantial publication record in leading peer-reviewed journals 
  • Good leadership and managerial skills 
  • Strong communicator with positive  approach to external engagement

Salary will be commensurate with experience on the professorial scale, current minimum £62,585 a year.
