The University of York seeks an experienced Contracts Officer to support its substantial portfolio of research and to provide an expert contracts service to academic and support staff managing the University’s research and knowledge exchange activities.
Reporting to the Intellectual Property and Legal Manager, you will be a key member of the University’s small but highly productive and experienced Intellectual Property and Legal team within the Research and Enterprise Directorate. You will draft, negotiate and authorise a wide variety of research and research-related agreements. These will include contract research agreements, collaborations, consortium agreements, secondments, technical services, studentships, subcontracts, non-disclosure agreements, materials transfers, and consultancies.
You will have substantial experience in contracting drafting and negotiation. You will have a thorough working knowledge of research contracts. You will be highly organised, a pragmatic and effective negotiator, and able to manage a high volume of research contract activity with clear, reasoned and proportionate decisions. The post is offered on a full time basis, initially fixed term for three years, with a salary of £38,832 (Spine Point 36, Grade 7 on the University’s grading structure. Appointments will usually be made at the bottom of grade.
