Role Description

The University of York seeks a highly self-motivated and well qualified individual with a strong background in University-business engagement experience to work on a new three-year ERDF funded business support project called ‘Product and Process Innovation’ (PAPI).  PAPI aims to stimulate innovation in SMEs in key sectors by providing capital grants support to businesses to encourage the development of new products and processes.   The programme will harness the technological and business support expertise of its partners and will complement and add value to the YNYER Growth Hub and wider business support and funding community.  This role is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020.

You will be responsible for identifying and engaging with businesses across York, North Yorkshire and East Riding to promote the benefits of the PAPI project.  This will involve working in partnership with existing business networks across a large, mainly rural area.  You will be expected to develop and manage an effective marketing and engagement campaign, including promotional material, newsletters, social media and web presence to promote the PAPI capital grants scheme.  You will organise SME engagement events and attend suitable networking events to promote the programme and develop new links with businesses to take-up capital grants to set targets and time-lines.   You will also facilitate communication and liaise effectively to promote the PAPI programme to other colleagues within the University, who have links to industry.

You will be based in the Economic Development Team at the Ron Cooke Hub, Heslington East Campus, although the role will involve substantial time spent visiting external business support organisations and businesses.  Due to the large geographical area that the project covers (York, North Yorkshire and East Riding) you will need to be able to travel independently.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Mark Gunthorpe, Head of the Economic Development Team, (telephone: 01904 328075 or email: mark.gunthorpe@york.ac.uk

This post is to provide maternity cover up to 31st December 2018.
