Introduction / the role
The focus of the Faculty Finance Assistant role will be to provide operational finance support for a department within the sciences faculty, under the supervision of the Management Accountant. The post holder will benefit from interaction with the wider finance department (payments, payroll, fees office etc) but will also work collaboratively with academic staff and other support colleagues with the department.
The post is full-time and the starting salary will be within the range of £20,624 - £23,879 on grade 4 of the University’s salary scales.
The appointment will suit a person who has practical accounting experience as part of a finance team, delivering front-line finance support to colleagues. The Finance Assistant should demonstrate a good knowledge of ledger transactions and bookkeeping, and use standard Microsoft applications. The post holder will liaise with a number of service areas within the Finance department so should be an active communicator with a ‘can do’ approach.
You will be able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently. In addition you will be friendly and enthusiastic, with flexibility to prioritise a varied workload and maintain a customer-service focus.
