We are recruiting for an Innovation Adviser to join the Economic Development team at the University of York. The team is part of the Research and Enterprise Directorate which is the University department responsible for the central management of the University’s activities and strategy in research and knowledge exchange, and for providing comprehensive support to academic departments in their research and impact activities. This post provides an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant team at an exciting time at the University of York.
The University has successfully bid for £2m of European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) to deliver a three year programme of support to SMEs across the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding LEP area. The project is called ‘Product and Process Innovation’ (PAPI). As the name suggests, PAPI aims to stimulate innovation in SMEs in key sectors by providing capital grants support to businesses to encourage the development of new products and processes. Over 75% of the PAPI budget is allocated to providing these small capital grants (up to £25,000). We are therefore seeking a highly self-motivated and well qualified individual with a strong background in SME business engagement to provide advice and support to SMEs so as to increase both the quantity and quality of grant applications.
PAPI has also recently applied for additional funding to also operate in the Leeds City Region LEP area. We are still awaiting the outcome of this application. If successful, it may mean that we will seek to appoint a second Innovation Advisor post through this process.
The project has a central management and monitoring team which is based in the Economic Development Team. This new post will be based in PAPI central team and report to the Head of the Team who is acting as the lead officer for the PAPI project.
This role is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Mark Gunthorpe, Head of the Economic Development Team, Telephone: 01904 567983 or E-mail: email@example.com or to HR Recruitment at firstname.lastname@example.org
Salary will be within the range: £31,076 - £38,183 a year and the post is available full time on a fixed term contract up to the end of July 2019.
