A Postdoctoral Research Associate is sought to work on collaborative research funded by Syngenta. This is an exciting opportunity to investigate how soil tillage practices modify structure and hydraulic properties and to quantify impact on leaching of pesticides through soil. You will be responsible for undertaking an integrated programme of experiments, field measurements and mathematical modelling. As well as publishing the findings in the open literature, you will be responsible for proposing a framework for integrating tillage practices into approaches to mitigate transfer of pesticides to surface water. As well as a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant environmental, soils or hydrological discipline, you will have knowledge of soils physics, demonstrable prior experience of experimentation in soil systems and the ability to transfer understanding into mathematical models. The project will include fieldwork, so a clean driving license is essential.
