York Cares, the employee-volunteering charity, based at the University of York, is recruiting a Volunteering Project Officer to co-ordinate its employee-volunteering programmes, particularly those which focus on children and young people. Now ten years old, York Cares engages over 1,500 employee-volunteers each year from over 40 employer members who invest 10,000 hours in York’s communities.
Working in a dynamic team of six, you will be responsible for recruiting and supporting volunteers in local primary and secondary schools as part of the award-winning York Children’s University and Starting Blocks programmes. This will involve managing relationships with schools and employers, organising high profile events and managing a portfolio of projects.
You will have excellent interpersonal, organisational and project management skills and be able to enthuse others about the benefits of volunteering. Proven experience of working with schools and business is essential.
Salary will be £24,565 per annum within grade 5 of the HERA salary scales. The post is a 12 month fixed term contract and available on a full-time and job-share basis.
