The University of York is one of the UK's top Universities ranked in the 15th in The Times and Sunday Times university league table 2016. The Finance Department plays a central role in ensuring operational support for colleagues across all academic and support departments.
The Accountant role has been made available as a result of the planned restructure of the Finance Department which has created four main areas – Management Accounting, Accounting Services, Shared Services and Procurement. We intend to improve processes, systems and further develop the skills of our people. The new structure also provides a more focussed support for Faculties and for the departments.
The Accountant is an exciting and varied role based in the Group Financial Accounts team and reporting to the Group Financial Controller. You will provide high quality support to the Group FC in the preparation, monitoring and analysis of financial information for the University and its committees. You’ll contribute to the effective and efficient management and co-ordination of day-to-day financial operations, processes and accounting systems. There will be considerable opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and procedures.
