The Strategic Project Accountant role has been created as a result of the planned restructure of the Finance Department which has created four main areas – Management Accounting, Accounting Services, Shared Services and Procurement.  We intend to improve processes, systems and further develop the skills of our people. The new structure also provides a more focussed support for Faculties and for the departments.

The Role
You will report into the Finance Director and will hold responsible for leading professional financial input to the University’s business development projects. This encompasses long term scenario planning and the development of resource allocation. You will manage project scoping, planning, initiation, development, review and completion processes. Generating ideas for new projects which includes preparing project briefs and plans and obtain appropriate support.

Key Requirements

  • Education to degree level or equivalent with an Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACMA/CGMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Project leadership experience
  • Change management, experience of process improvement implementation.
  • Project appraisal techniques
  • UK GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practice) including FRS102.
  • Ability to analyse information and communicate conclusions persuasively.
  • Experience of working as an Accountant in a large/complex organisation, either public or private sector.
  • Excellent ability to motivate others and to coordinate their contribution.
