This is an exciting time for the Finance Department at the University of York. A restructure of our services has led to the formation of teams to provide support to our three faculties and the cluster of Professional Support Services. We have a vacancy for a highly motivated, customer oriented qualified accountant with excellent communication and management skills to head up our finance team providing support to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, which has an annual turnover in excess of £50m.
As a key member of the Finance Department, you will provide strategic support to the Dean of Faculty, engaging with other professional services to deliver highly effective and informed services to the Faculty and the management teams of 8 academic departments. This will encompass providing professional leadership in the creation and challenge of annual budgets, 4-year medium term plans and in-year quarterly forecasts. You will also provide business planning expertise to departmental or faculty level investment or restructuring proposals and oversee the month end and year-end accounting processes.
We are undertaking reviews of finance systems, processes and procedures to ensure that they are efficient, effective and fit for purpose. You will work closely with our Assistant Director Shared Services to ensure that updated financial processes are embedded within the Faculty and its departments.
Committed to personal development, possessing a positive attitude to work and able to demonstrate successful management of your time to meet demanding objectives and deadlines, you will also relish the prospect of working in and shaping a dynamic and positive environment.
If you would like to discuss the role informally, please contact Gary Sheen, Assistant Director - Management Accounting on 01904 432127 or e-mail email@example.com
